Nana Afia Bamfoa Konadu Yiadom, Maawrɛ Hemaa of Akyem Kotoku state and Queen of Akyem Kotoku Anyinam, has urged parents to prioritize their children’s education.
Speaking at the coronation of Nana Asare Duodu Gyimah III, Ayirebi Hene, she emphasized the importance of taking advantage of Ghana’s free SHS policy.
The queen also encouraged parents whose children struggled academically to explore Technical and Vocational Education and Training (T-VET) opportunities, enabling them to acquire artisanal skills for future employment.
She stressed that formal education isn’t the sole path to financial stability and encouraged youth to develop handiwork skills, highlighting the lucrative potential in trade.
Nana Afia Bamfoa Konadu Yiadom specifically advised women to acquire trades, ensuring financial independence.
Nana Asare Duodu Gyimah III, Ayirebi Hene, thanked the community for their support and pledged to support exceptional students to pursue university education,facilitate T-VET enrollment for those interested in handiwork,assist entrepreneurs in establishing businesses.
He promise to build a nurses quarters so that it will attract more health professionals to the town.
He also said he is going to give facelift to the market so that it will improve doing business there.
He promise to provide land for farming.
Obrempong Adakwah Gyaminah II Akyem Bontodiase Hene emphasized unity among community members, advising the newly installed chief to prioritize harmony and development initiatives.
He assured Nana Asare Duodu Gyimah III of Kotoku state’s support.
