26 Zimbabwe Staff College Officers Visit Tema Port

The Ghana Ports and Harbors Authority continues to present its port as an avenue for people to visit and learn essential information on port and maritime affairs.

A 26-member delegation made up of faculty members and participants of the Zimbabwe Staff College Joint Command and Staff Course 32 has visited the Tema Port on a study tour.

The tour was to acquaint the participants with the foreign, defense and economic policies of Ghana and with the port of Tema being a strategic economic asset of Ghana, they find it as a necessary place to gather adequate information on economic policy.

Isaac Tawiah, a Senior Marketing and Public Affairs Officer of Tema Port, revealed to the delegation Ghana’s commitment to facilitate trade by reducing the time and cost of doing business in its ports and this is achieved by introduction of the paperless port clearance system.

“The paperless has brought speed as well as removed human interference in the clearance process,” he said.

The delegation from the Zimbabwe Staff College were taken through the port to have an experience of operations inside the Tema Port.

The colonel who led the delegation said the familiarization tour of Ghana’s geopolitical and economic structures would contribute tremendously to their knowledge base and improve their country.

“We want ideas, we want cooperation and to learn from our colleagues so when we go back home, there are chances of improvement,” she expressed.
