The Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association is urging the new government to prioritize the spare parts sector as a key driver of Ghana’s economic revival.
According to Mr. Takyi Addo, Public Relations Officer of the association, the sector requires critical attention to stimulate economic growth.
Mr. Takyi Addo emphasized the need for urgent government intervention, specifically calling for the removal of draconian taxes within the first 120 days in office.
These taxes include the emissions levy, e-levy, COVID levy, and 10% levy on bet winnings.
In an interview, Mr. Takyi Addo expressed shock at the 22 levies and fees imposed on clearing goods at the ports.
He stressed that Ghana must take the spare parts business seriously to create employment opportunities for the youth, reduce unemployment rates, and improve the standard of living.
Mr. Takyi Addo believes that Ghana must capitalize on the potential of the spare parts sector to drive economic growth and development.
