Six Deprived Communities Receive Water

Six deprived communities in the Central and Eastern Regions have been provided with bore hole mechanism to supply them protable source of drinking water.

They are Assin Dadieso Fawomanye, Yerebremaowu, Asarekrom and Mmooho in the Assin South District, Mfantsefokrom in the Agona West Municipality all in the Central Region and Akototse in the Nsawam/Adoagyiri Municipality in the Eastern Region.

The project which is througth the initiative of a Ghanaian- based Non-Governmental Organization, Action Against Rural Poverty in collaboration with its partner in the United States of America, Africa Heartwood Project estimated at over 28 thousand Dollars was financed by Plant Therapy also based in the US, with technical supprt from Aquagro Ltd, drllers and consultants of boreholes and water supply systems and managements and with Assistance from the Assemblies.

 

At a joint commissioning of the projects, the Chief Executive Officers [CEOs] of Aquagro, Mr Kofi Forson and Action Against Rural Poverty Ms. Gladys Efua Kwatemaa Yamoah admonished members of the beneficiary communitgies to put the facility to good use by maintaining them regularly to ensure their longer lifespan.

The Presiding Member and the Planning Officer of the Assin South District Assembly Mr. Michael Kweku Owusu and Mr. Adams Abubakar who took turns to address members of the various beneficiary communities in the District on of behalf of the District Chief Executive expressed gratitude to Action Against Rural Poverty, Africa Heartwood Project and Plant Therapy for coming to the aid of the people at such an opportune time.

They disclosed that plans are also far advanced by the Assembly to reconstruct roads and bridges leading to most of the deprived communities in the District.

At Mfantsefokrom in the Agona West Municipality, the Engineer in charge of Water and Sanitation, Mr. Maxwell Bortse hinted that the community has been selected by the Municipality to be connected to the National Electrification Grid.
