Today many political activists and senior politicians are showering praises for the tenacity of investigative journalist Manasseh Azure, whose extraordinary dexterity had saved Ghana further depletion of our scare resources and making heads roll.
Don’t praise him today because he is fighting and exposing your opponent’s wanton corruption, bribery, malfeasances, name it, to your admiration. And then crucify him when he finds fault with your political leaning.
As a professionally trained graduate journalist and media practitioner of over 22years standing, I know how politicians vehemently abhor the truth.
In London despite my liberal stance and Pan-African activism and giving the NPP (the New Patriotic Party) free regular slots (1 & 2hours a week) on Voice of Africa Radio. They reported my radio station severally to OFCOM (the regulator) on any flimsy excuse and trumped up charges, not leaving at that, my advertisers, preachers and programme buyers were coerced to doing business with me. Everything to cause my downfall because of my insatiable love for the GREAT Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah was employed at me and the company.
So therefore, we must not support any political criminal or a political party to rob the good people of Ghana, but rather support any nationalist and a journalist who is prepared to die a little for Mama Ghana and not for greedy-selfish politicians, family and friends. GHANA FIRST!
Since my days at Accra Academy I have been inspired by this old saying, “I shall pass this way, but once; any good, therefore, that I can do or any kindness that I can show to any human being, let me do it now. Let me not defer nor neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.”
Doing politics is a duty and not about selling one’s conscience. In a speech in the National Assembly in 1964, 6years before I was born, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah told them that, “I do not know of any greater satisfaction than honest and efficient service rendered to the people in the best interest of the people.” Comrade Manasseh Azure, more grease to your elbows. God richly bless you and protect you until we meet again.
