Electrochem to Employ 3,200 Local Workers in Ada for Upcoming Salt Harvest Season

Electrochem Ghana Limited, a subsidiary of the McDan Group, has announced plans to employ 3,200 workers in Ada for its upcoming salt harvesting season.

This initiative, part of the company’s commitment to sustainable community engagement, aims to provide jobs and economic stability to local residents through traditional salt harvesting.

Speaking to the media, Mr. Razak Adam, Chairman of the McDan Group, emphasized the importance of this recruitment drive. He highlighted that hiring locally is central to Electrochem’s mission to empower the people of Ada and foster sustainable economic growth across Ghana.

“At Electrochem Ghana, we believe in working hand-in-hand with the communities where we operate. This salt harvest is not just an economic activity; it’s an opportunity to provide jobs, improve livelihoods, and support the people who have been custodians of this resource,” stated Mr. McKorley.

Mr. Adam explained that, while the company has the capacity for mechanical harvesting, it has chosen a manual approach to honor Ada’s longstanding salt-harvesting traditions. By doing so, Electrochem aims to ensure that the economic benefits of salt mining remain within the community.

“Ada has always been at the heart of salt production in Ghana. By preserving a manual approach for this harvest season, we are not only choosing traditional practices but also ensuring that the economic benefits remain in the community. We are dedicated to creating shared value and leaving a positive impact,” Mr. Adam added.

Electrochem’s commitment extends beyond salt harvesting. Mr. Adam expressed the company’s dedication to investing in education, health, and infrastructure, creating a lasting legacy of development in Ada and throughout Ghana.

“Our goal extends beyond salt harvesting. The people of Ghana (Ada) are our partners, and together, we aim to build a legacy that serves generations to come,” he said.
