Maurya Education Expands UCMAS and STEM Robo Programs to Reach More Ghanaian Schools

This year’s UCMAS National Competition has taken on an exciting new dimension as Maurya Education Limited, the organization behind the renowned brain development and STEM education programs, extended the event from two days to three.

According to Managing Director Mr. Girish Gurbani, the extra day has created valuable opportunities for participating children to not only compete but also interact, learn, and build lasting connections.

“This year’s event has been especially exciting,” Mr. Gurbani said. “By adding an extra day, we have given children more time to interact with peers from different parts of Ghana, participate in competitions, enjoy entertainment, and socialize. It’s been a truly wonderful experience for them.”

Maurya Education currently operates two flagship programs in Ghana. The first, UCMAS, is a globally recognized brain development initiative originally from Malaysia, which uses mental arithmetic to enhance cognitive abilities in children. The second, STEM Robo, is a hands-on robotics, coding, and artificial intelligence program from India, delivered through fully equipped STEM labs installed in schools.

“For school owners, we offer to set up these labs for free. There is no need to source expensive robotic equipment or worry about curriculum alignment. We handle everything from lab setup to expert training, all mapped to the Ghana Education Curriculum,” Mr. Gurbani explained.

These programs, he noted, are part of Maurya Education’s broader mission to equip Ghanaian children with essential 21st-century skills, including technology, logic, creativity, and problem-solving. The organization emphasizes that digital skills particularly in artificial intelligence, robotics, and coding are no longer optional but critical for the leaders of tomorrow.

“We are addressing the skills gap with world-class programs that are both effective and affordable,” Mr. Gurbani stressed. “Parents are seeing the benefits, and our growth each year is proof that what we’re doing is working.”

Now in its 18th year of operation in Ghana, Maurya Education has impacted hundreds of thousands of students across the country. The company attributes its success to a strong commitment to quality and affordability, ensuring that every Ghanaian child, regardless of background, can access a global-standard education.

While the programs currently run mainly in private institutions, Mr. Gurbani confirmed that Maurya Education is actively working with the Ministry of Education to extend its reach into public schools.

“We’ve already submitted introductory proposals for our STEM Labs to the Ministry. Over the years, we have received strong support from successive education ministers, and we hope to meet with the current Minister soon to explore wider implementation across public schools,” he revealed.

He acknowledged past collaborations with notable education officials, including Dr. Enyo Tetteh and Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and expressed gratitude for the encouragement every administration since 2007 has shown toward their initiatives.

In conclusion, Mr. Gurbani reiterated Maurya Education’s commitment to making high-quality, future-ready learning accessible to all.

“These are international programs, but we have made them very affordable so that no child in Ghana is left behind,” he said. “Whether it’s UCMAS or STEM Robo, our focus is on equipping the next generation with the tools they need to succeed in a fast-changing world.”
