Leisure Hands Foundation Donates To Dzorwulu Bostal Home

“NO INMATE OF ROMAN RIDGE SENIOR CORRECTIONAL CENTER CAN BE CALLED AN EX-CONVICT.”

The Roman Ridge Bostal Home  popular known as the Dzorwulu Bostal Home has a total population of 111 inmates out of which it has custody of only one 16 year old female inmate.

The Center established in 1948.

The facility was first created to camp soldiers upon their return from wars such as the Burma war until it was taken over by the Social Welfare of Ghana and converted into a Senior Correctional Center.

The Center has a maximum detention period  of three years and a minimum stay of three months.

In all the Leisure hands foundation and Safari Restaurant group donated to Correctional Center  items such as Eight cartons of  bottled water, Eight cartons of Soft drinks of various varieties and Several packed of cooked food.

Addressing the inmates of the Senior Correctional Center, Reverend Apostle Dr. Samuel Kofi Oboney Head Pastor Soul Mission international church (Adonai City)- Sowutuom-Omanjor Branch urged the Inmates never give up in life.

Reverend  Apostle Dr. Samuel Kofi Oboney in his counseling sector advise the inmates that all is not lost as they are clothed in inmate gowns and assured them  his research on life shows that all great men who turns out to be leaders of states walked their path through the Prisons sighting various African leaders such as President Nelson Mandela of South Africa, President Dr.  Kwame Nkrumah  of the Republic of Ghana and host of others.

The Leisure hands foundation as part of it corporate social responsibility and benevolence donated packed  food, drinking water and soft drinks to the  Roman Ridge Bostal Home Correctional Center which was received by Ghana Prisons Service Officer on duty Assistant Superintendent of Prison ( ASP ) Banahene who expressed gratitude to  the Deputy Chief Executive director for Leisure hands foundation and Safari Restaurant based in the United States of America Mrs. Getrude Dodoo and her team.

Asp Banahene appealed to benevolent organisations and corporate institutions and agencies to come to their assistance with educational materials and academic enhancement products such as Text and note  books , literature books, printer and photocopier machines to help in the smooth running of the facility.

He called on other religious bodies to emulate such gestures to help transform the lives of these unfortunate ones but noted that once an inmate serves his or her sentence at the center that child is not considered as an ex convict but rather a reform child who can be inculcated but into community to perform his full  responsibility role as member of his community.

The Center has a tailoring workshop, a mosque, a carpentry, metal fabrication  unit, a leather works facility for the production of shoes and bags and a farm.

The correction center also play a key role in administration of academic performance of the inmates thereby putting the inmates to the school of their choice to achieve better carriers in the future endeavors.

The Center can currently boast of some quality inmates as students in various high level Senior High Schools in Accra with excellent academic performance,such as the Labone Senior High School and the University of Ghana

The only female inmate cannot be seen on the premise of the center, due to the stigma attached to it by counseling advise.

The Leisure hands foundation was later taken on a tour to the leather works facility and was impressed with the quality of production of the bags and shoes on display which were ready for the open market.

The Leisure hands foundation and Safari Restaurant group later organized a lunch  for  workers and management of Ghana Narcotics Control Board as a sign of good relationship and corporate welfare image established among all the workers and their superior and showed  gratitude to the NACOB Director General Brigadier General Maxwel Obuba Mantey  for his excellent leadership skills and role to the institution.
