Eastern Vultures Demand Release of Kofi Ofosu Nkansah

A pro-New Patriotic Party pressure group based in Koforidua, the Eastern Vultures, has called for the immediate release of former National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) Chief Executive Officer, Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, following his reported arrest and detention by the National Intelligence Bureau.

In a press statement issued on February 11, 2026, and signed by its Convener and Chairman, David Prah, the group described the arrest as unjustified and politically motivated. According to the Eastern Vultures, the development raises concerns about what they termed the increasing use of state security institutions against perceived political opponents.

The group argued that the arrest of Mr. Ofosu Nkansah, who previously served as CEO of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme, undermines democratic principles and the rule of law. They maintained that security agencies must operate independently and avoid actions that could be interpreted as partisan.

“We find the arrest unjustified and politically tainted,” the statement said. “The weaponization of state institutions to intimidate perceived opponents is a direct assault on democracy and the rule of law.”

The Eastern Vultures further demanded what they described as the “immediate and unconditional release” of Mr. Ofosu Nkansah. The group cautioned that failure to comply with their demand would prompt them to pursue what they called “all lawful and democratic avenues” in response.

While the National Intelligence Bureau has not publicly detailed the grounds for the arrest at the time of filing this report, the development has triggered debate within political circles in the Eastern Region.

EASTERN VULTURES DEMAND IMMEDIATE RELEASE OF KOFI OFOSU NKANSAH

The Eastern Vultures (Pro-NPP Pressure Group based in the Eastern Regional capital) has taken note of the arrest and detention of Mr. Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, former CEO of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB), raising serious concerns about the growing use of state security against political opponents.

Eastern Vultures find the arrest unjustified and politically tainted.

The weaponization of state institutions to intimidate perceived opponents is a direct assault on democracy and the rule of law, and we therefore demand the immediate and unconditional release of Mr. Ofosu Nkansah.

We serve notice that should they fail to release him, the Eastern Vultures will not hesitate to mobilize all lawful and democratic avenues, invade the premises of NIB and do the needful. Ghana’s democracy must not be sacrificed on the altar of political vindictiveness.
