Plans are reportedly underway within government circles that could see McDan Aviation’s private jet terminal at the Terminal 1 Airport reassigned to Ghanaian business mogul Ibrahim Mahama.
Mr. Daniel McKorley, Executive Chairman of McDan Group of Companies, currently operates the Fixed Base Operator (FBO) at the Terminal 1 Airport, a purpose-built private jet terminal designed to offer high-end services for business aircraft, including VIP lounges, crew facilities, flight planning offices, conference rooms, and in-flight catering.
The terminal, separate from the main airport buildings, provides passengers and crew with streamlined customs and immigration procedures, allowing for a secure and efficient travel experience.
However, sources indicate that the terminal may soon be handed over to Ibrahim Mahama, the brother of President John Mahama, who has recently expanded his aviation portfolio with the acquisition of a brand-new Bombardier Global 6500 private jet.
The aircraft, valued at approximately $70 million, arrived in Ghana in early March 2026 and features ultra-long-range capabilities and luxury private suites.
Analysts say the potential takeover of the private jet terminal would align with Ibrahim Mahama’s growing presence in the aviation sector.
The development raises questions about the future of McDan Airline’s VIP operations, which have positioned the company as a leader in executive aviation services in Ghana.
Efforts to reach representatives of both McDan Aviation and Ibrahim Mahama for comment were ongoing at the time of publication.
