KPCE Demonstration JHS and Asiakwa Roman Catholic Primary School emerged champions of the 7th edition of the Kingsley Science and Maths Quiz (KSMQ) and the 6th edition of the Kingsley Spelling Challenge (KSC) respectively after an exciting grand finale held at Abuakwa State College in Kyebi.
The annual competition, organised by Kingsley Quizzes in collaboration with the Abuakwa South Municipal Education Directorate and the Ghana Education Service (GES), brought together six outstanding basic schools from across the municipality to compete for academic honours.
In the Kingsley Science and Maths Quiz, KPCE Demonstration JHS delivered a commanding performance to win the championship with 39 points. Apedwa Presbyterian JHS placed second with 24 points, while Kibi Rock of Ages JHS finished third with 16 points.
The Kingsley Spelling Challenge was equally competitive, with Asiakwa Roman Catholic Primary School emerging as champions. KICK Demonstration Primary School placed second, while Kibi Ebenezer Primary School secured third place.
The competition, founded by the Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South, Dr. Kingsley Agyemang, has become one of the municipality’s flagship educational programmes, promoting excellence in science, mathematics and literacy while identifying and nurturing academically gifted pupils.
Addressing participants at the closing ceremony, Dr. Agyemang encouraged the contestants to believe in their potential, saying the competition was designed to inspire future national leaders and innovators.
“That is why I have dedicated myself to this cause. I believe that one day the next President of Ghana will rise from among you. I believe that one day the next inventor will emerge from among you. I believe that one day another great leader will come from among you. I believe that one day an even better contestant will rise from among you,” he said.
He added that investing in young people was the surest way to build the nation’s future, stressing that “this is how dreams are nurtured. This is how the future is built.”
Dr. Agyemang announced that every contestant would receive a laptop computer, a cash prize and a certificate of participation in recognition of their hard work and commitment. He also disclosed that supporting teachers would receive cash awards, while the winning schools would be presented with laptops, trophies and additional cash prizes.
Congratulating all the participating schools, he urged the pupils to continue striving for academic excellence, noting that the competition was not merely about winning but about developing confidence, leadership and a passion for learning.
The event attracted education stakeholders, traditional leaders, parents, teachers and students from across the Abuakwa South Municipality, reinforcing the growing importance of the Kingsley Science and Maths Quiz and Kingsley Spelling Challenge as platforms for academic excellence and educational development.If the official name is KPCE Demonstration Primary School (rather than KICK Demonstration Primary School) for the second-place Spelling Challenge winner, that name should be corrected before publication.
