A Strong Foundation in Education
Bishop Dr. Michael Newman-Godful began his educational journey in Ghana, West Africa.
He attended Obuasi Methodist School, where he completed his elementary and middle school education and demonstrated an early commitment to academic excellence.
After briefly attending Tweneboah Kodua Secondary School, he transferred to Kumasi High School, where he completed his secondary education in 1993.
Motivated by a passion for teaching and developing young minds, he proceeded to a teacher training college and earned a professional teaching certificate. This qualification enabled him to begin his career as a Mathematics and General Science teacher at the junior high school level.
For two years, he worked directly with young students, helping them develop confidence and interest in mathematics and science. His early classroom experience established the foundation for what would later become an extensive career spanning elementary, secondary, university, technical, and professional education.
Seeking deeper academic preparation, Dr. Newman-Godful enrolled at the University of Cape Coast, one of Ghana’s leading institutions for teacher education. He earned a Bachelor of Education degree, strengthening his understanding of instructional methods, educational theory, curriculum development, and classroom practice.
Immigration to the United States and Professional Advancement
Bishop Dr. Newman-Godful later immigrated to the United States, where he continued to pursue academic and professional advancement.
While adjusting to a new country and professional environment, he earned a master’s degree in finance. This field of study expanded his understanding of financial management, economic systems, risk assessment, investment principles, and organizational decision-making.
He subsequently gained extensive experience in the insurance industry, serving as an insurance adjuster and appraiser for major companies, including Farmers Insurance and Progressive Insurance.

Doctoral Achievement and University Teaching
In 2013, Bishop Dr. Newman-Godful achieved an important academic milestone by earning a Doctorate in Management, specializing in Information Systems and Technology, from Franklin University in Ohio.
His doctoral studies prepared him to examine the relationship between management, technology, employee behavior, organizational performance, and the modern workplace.
As part of his academic contribution, he completed and published a dissertation titled:
“Employee-Related Activities that Affect Productivity: The Role of the Internet.”
The dissertation examined how employee use of the internet and related workplace behaviors can influence productivity. His research contributed to discussions concerning technology management, employee performance, workplace policy, and organizational effectiveness.
Following his doctoral studies, Dr. Newman-Godful transitioned into higher education and became an instructor at Western Governors University, where he taught courses in business informatics and financial management.
He later joined the business department at Grand Canyon University as an adjunct professor, further expanding his experience in university-level teaching.
His academic career has demonstrated his ability to connect theory with practice and to teach students from different educational and professional backgrounds.
International Teaching Experience
Bishop Dr. Newman-Godful’s teaching experience is not limited to Ghana and the United States.
In 2017, he had an enriching international teaching assignment at Jiangnan University in Wuxi, China, where he taught Principles of Finance.

In 2015, Bishop Dr. Newman-Godful began another significant chapter of his career when he joined a Washington State school district as a Career and Technical Education (CTE) educator.
After obtaining the necessary teaching degree and state licensure, he focused on computer applications and STEM education.
He currently serves as a CTE educator in the Bethel School District in Washington State, where he teaches Empowering Your Future, a computer applications course designed to prepare students for academic, professional, and technological success.
Through this role, he helps students develop practical skills in:

Bishop Dr. Newman-Godful is the founder and owner of the Margaret E. Gemstone STEM Academy in Ghana.
