A family member from Bakpa New Havenu in the Central Tongu District of the Volta Region, Mr. Christian Zokah, popularly known as CK, says he has been forced to leave the community following allegations linking him to the death of a family member, Simon Zokah.
Mr. Zokah has strongly denied the allegation and is appealing to the police and traditional authorities to protect his life and help resolve the matter through a fair and credible process.
According to Mr. Zokah, the situation began following the death of Simon Zokah.
He says some members of the deceased’s family consulted a traditional spiritualist to establish the circumstances surrounding the death.
Mr. Zokah alleges that the spiritual consultation resulted in an accusation against him, with the spiritualist allegedly identifying him as being responsible for the death.
He, however, strongly denies the allegation, insisting that he has no knowledge of the circumstances surrounding the death and has never harmed the deceased.
The matter, according to Mr. Zokah, was subsequently brought before the former Member of Parliament (MP) for Central Tongu and former Minister of Roads and Highways, Hon. Joe Gidisu, as well as the traditional spiritualist, Hunor Gatukpe, and the Mankralo of Bakpa.
Mr. Zokah claims that Hon. Joe Gidisu expressed concerns about the allegation and that discussions later led to a proposal for another traditional consultation to establish the truth.
He says he was expected to accompany the first traditional spiritualist to another shrine selected by the other side for further verification.
Concerns Over The Process
Mr. Zokah says he has reservations about the proposed process, particularly regarding who would accompany him and whether members of his family would be allowed to participate.
He maintains that he is willing to cooperate with any fair process aimed at establishing the truth, provided both sides are given equal opportunity and his family is allowed to be present.
Claims Of Threats To His Life
Mr. Zokah says the matter has now gone beyond the original allegation, with accusations against him allegedly spreading on social media.
He claims some people have described him as a murderer and accused him of killing Simon Zokah.
More seriously, he alleges that some residents have threatened to kill him if they see him in the community.
Mr. Zokah says he reported the alleged threats to the Mafi Kumase Police Station on August 8, 2026, and was advised to temporarily leave the community for his own safety while investigations continue.
He has since relocated to an undisclosed location.
Children Also Affected
Mr. Zokah says the situation is also having a serious emotional impact on his family, particularly his children.
He says some of his children, including those at the university level, have become worried and distressed after hearing the allegations and reports circulating about their father.
According to him, the uncertainty surrounding the matter has created fear and anxiety within the family.
Appeal To Authorities
Mr. Christian Zokah is appealing to the Ghana Police Service, traditional authorities, district authorities and other relevant institutions to intervene urgently to protect his life and ensure that the matter is resolved peacefully.
He is also calling on residents and social media users to stop presenting the allegation against him as an established fact.
He insists that he has not been proven responsible for the death and should not be branded a murderer without credible evidence.
Mr. Zokah says any investigation into the death should be conducted through lawful and credible processes rather than threats, intimidation or public accusations.
Need For Calm And Due Process
The circumstances surrounding Simon Zokah’s death and the allegations against Mr. Christian Zokah remain disputed.
While allegations have been made against him, Mr. Zokah has categorically denied any involvement in the death.
The authorities are therefore being urged to investigate both the circumstances surrounding the death and the alleged threats against him, while ensuring that all parties are treated fairly.
For Mr. Christian Zokah, his immediate concern is his safety and the possibility of returning home without fear.
He maintains that he did not kill anybody and wants the truth to come out.
He is therefore appealing to the authorities to protect his life and help resolve the matter peacefully and fairly.
