BorlaPlus Launches Digital Platform to Transform Waste Collection and Access to Essential Services

Ghanaian technology platform BorlaPlus will officially launch online on Friday, September 25, 2026, introducing a new way for households and businesses to access waste collection and other essential services through their phones.

BorlaPlus connects consumers with independent service providers, beginning with rubbish collection in Accra, Tema, Ashaiman and surrounding areas, with plans to expand to other parts of Ghana.

Moving Beyond the Traditional Siren

For many households, rubbish collection has traditionally meant listening for the familiar siren of a passing collection vehicle and making sure they get their rubbish out before it leaves. Others may have full bins but have to wait days or weeks for a collection service to arrive.

BorlaPlus is designed to change that.

Customers can request a rubbish pickup through the platform when they need one, rather than waiting for a collection vehicle to pass their area.

The platform also aims to make waste collection more efficient for independent drivers. Instead of roaming around in search of customers and spending fuel without knowing where their next job will come from, drivers can receive customer requests and use Google Maps navigation to travel directly to the pickup location.

Beyond Waste Collection

BorlaPlus is also designed to make it easier to access other services.

Instead of calling friends, family or acquaintances to ask, “Do you know someone who sells sand?” or “Do you know someone who delivers water or does sewage removal?”, customers can access these services through the BorlaPlus platform.

Services being introduced include:

Rubbish collection

Sand

Stone

Water

Sewage removal

Towing

Material haulage

Cargo transport

And other services

BorlaPlus does not own the trucks or employ the independent service providers on its platform. It provides the technology that connects providers with consumers who need their services.

The company’s approach can be summed up simply:

> Instead of waiting for the siren, request the pickup.

Instead of roaming for customers, navigate to the job.

Instead of asking around for a service provider, find the service on your phone.
