TRAFFICTECH: AKUFO-ADDO GOV’T DIDN’T RUSH IT DUE TO BOTTLENECKS – KENNEDY OSEI NYARKO

Hon. Kennedy Osei Nyarko has said TrafficTech is a good initiative which will help bring sanity on our roads and enhance road safety.

According to him, the Akufo-Addo/NPP Government deliberately delayed its full implementation and decided not to rush it because of some bottlenecks identified during the pilot program in 2023.

He explained that the pilot stage revealed that the country did not have adequate road safety infrastructure, both soft and hard, to allow for full implementation until all those bottlenecks were addressed.

Some of the key issues that came up strongly were about public education on the policy and road safety signs.

The pilot studies proved that Government would need not less than a year or even more to run extensive public education and also put in place enough road safety signs before it is fully rolled out.

The purpose of the piloting was to identify teething problems and resolve them before full implementation.

He then asks: Did the new Government put in place adequate measures to address those issues before the full implementation of this policy?
