
Ghana’s under 12 team successfully defended the ITF/CAT West and Central Africa Junior Championships in Cotonu, Benin.
Ghana team won the tournament without dropping a set, open the campaign with 3-0 win over Ivory Coast and went on to defeats host nation 3-0 before ousting last year runners up Nigeria 3-0. Ended the tournament with another 3-0 against Togo.
Aside from emerging the overall winners, Ghana’s impressive display saw the 12 and under boys’ team bag qualification for the Junior Davis Cup.
The team made of Yakubu Lea Abubakari from Atomic Tennis Club& BabooSports Academy and a students of Atomic Hills Basic school, Lameck Bagerbaseh from Winneba Tennis Club, attends University demonstration school and also Refeal Ankrah also from Winneba Tennia Club and schools at Uncle Rich School Complex.
Head coach Noah Bagerbaseh expressed delight at the performance of the players stating that the federation’s commitment to the development of the game particularly at junior level will be sustained with renewed vigour.
The President of Ghana Tennis Federation Isaac Aboagye Duah thanked Mr. Daniel Mckorley of Mcdan Group of companies and Ismailia Lamptey of BabooSports for the supports.
