… Group calls on Prez. to Intervene
A group calling itself Concerned Staff of the University of Education at Winneba are accusing the Member of Parliament for the Afutu Constituency, Hon. Alexander Afenyo Markin of meddling in the day to day administration of the University.
The Concerned Staff who wants to remain anonymous for fear of ‘’persecution’’ are therefore calling on the president Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo-Addo to as a matter of urgency call the MP to order to refrain him from playing politics with the day to the administration of the University.
Briefing the media of the developments at the University, the group noted that since the Court ruling over an impasse concerning the University which went in favour of one side led in Counsel by the MP who is a lawyer, he is alleged to have assumed some powers to himself, dictating the day to day running of the University by conniving with some members of staff he perceived aligned to him, and transferring those he perceive as “enemies” without any tangible reason.
The group cited an instance where a member of staff, Mrs. Gifty Tetteh was transfered to the University’s campus at Mampong, and her husband also interdicted because they perceived to be non-aligning to the MP.
They disclosed that since the interdiction of the staff and subsequent transfer of his wife, the man has continually suffered from psychological trauna, as the wife has become the only bread winner of the home.
They further alleged that as a result of this, some junior staff members who are perceived “bed-fellows” of the MP are lording over their senior colleagues they perceive to be enemies to the MP, with impunity.
The group mentioned one Mr. Jones Appiah Kubi, Secretary to the Federation of University Staff Association of Ghana {FUSAG], one Nr. Isaac Donkor also an executive member of FUSAG, one Mr. Albert Otabil and Nicholas Ninson, both Internal Auditors of the University who have align themselves to the MP to run the day to day administration of the University..
They also accused SOME executives of FUSAG, including Mr. Isaac Donkoh, Ms. Joyce Tsatsu, Mr. Jones Appiah Kubi, Mr. Hector Owoahene and Mr. Frank Oppong of mismanaging the funds of the Federation.
