*Aggrieved market women in Akyem Oda cry for foul play in share of money from gov’t after market disaster*

The aggrieved market women of about hundred and thirty in numbers (130) in Akyem Oda in the Birim Central municipality of Eastern region who were victims of September 13th, 2021 Akyem Oda central market fire disaster have called on government to rescue them as they suspect foul play in share the of money.

The leader of the group Madam Linda Asamoah in an interview with the media revealed that president Nana Akufo Addo on his visit to Akyem Oda market after the disaster promised to give victims interest free loans to continue their businesses and indeed the promise was fulfilled when MASLOC and Ghana Enterprise Agency (GEA) came with the loans.

She explained that when the two government agencies came with the loans, it is shocking that only few women were given the loans and among those given, most of them were not victims of the market disaster and when they started asking questions, they were told another loan was coming but they kept waiting for long and haven’t still received anything.

Madam Linda Asamoah and her group of aggrieved market women are therefore calling on government and the appropriate authorities to come to their rescue as most of them are now jobless and doing nothing at home to support their family in this difficult times that women have to support their husbands to manage the home.
