THE MEMBER of Parliament (MP) for Agona East constituency in the Central Region, Obaatanpa Queenstar Maame Pokuah Sawyerr, who is known for her generosity, has once again helped to save the life of an 18-year-old orphan, Theodora Ansah, whose neck and hand were slashed by her boyfriend during the Christmas festivities.
The girl, who hails from Likpe around Hohoe in the Volta Region, narrowly escaped death and was in critical condition at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, but her family members could not raise the needed money for her to undergo surgery.
Through the onerous effort of Kasapa 102.5 FM which led the charge to raise funds, the 18-year-old mother of two got support from the Honourable MP, Sisters of the Holy Family Catholic Church located at Mataheko and staff of Excellence in Broadcasting Network to undergo the surgery.
The victim, after successfully undergoing treatment and being discharged, paid a ‘Thank You’ visit to the munificent MP at her residence in Accra on Monday, January 22, 2018.
Welcoming the survivor, the MP advised young girls to be of good behaviour and avoid acts of fornication which are capable of cutting short their lifelong dreams and aspirations.
She noted that empowering young girls to stand for their rights was something she was passionate in her constituency and beyond.
To this end, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Agona East Constituency in the Central Region, Obaatanpa Queenstar Maame Pokuah Sawyerr promised to sponsor the 18-year-old orphan, Theodora Ansah to learn sewing as she said she wants to be a seamstress when she is well by God’s grace.
Background
Theodora had her neck slashed by her angry boyfriend, Raymond Boabey, a construction worker at Likpe Mate, a suburb of Hohoe in the Volta Region.
The victim, who is a mother of two, three-year-old and one-and-half-year-old daughter, however escaped death from the near butchering incidence.
