As part of measures to reopen the Mandela and the Main markets in Agona Swedru as parts of efforts to fight against the spread of the Corona virus pandemic in the country, there has been a major clean up exercise in the two markets.
It was organized under the auspices of the Agona West Municipal Environmental Health Directorate in conjunction with Zoom Lion and with support from some selected traders of the markets.
The close down followed disregard for laid down protocols such as social distancing by the trades as announced by the president to fight against the spread of the disease. Earlier the Agona West Municipal Assembly took steps to decongest the two markets, but the traders seemed adamant, leading to the close down of the markets.
