Akufo Addo Mourns Late Maj. Gen. Vib Sanziri

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has described the sudden demise of the Late Maj. Gen. Vib Sanziri, Head of Missions and Force Commander of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force as a big blow to the whole country. 

President Akufo-Addo who visited the family house at the Michel Camp in order to get first-hand information, described the death as a lost to the nation. 

President Akufo-Addo said the state is ready to support the family with its arrangement towards the final funeral rite. 

Accompanying President Akufo-Addo to the house were the Foreign Affairs Minister-Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, Defence Minister-Dominic Nitiwul, Interior Minister-Ambrose Derry, the Inspector General of Police-David Asante Apeatu, Chief of Defence Staff- Lt. Gen. Obed Akwa and many other government officials.

The family confirmed the demise and informed the President that their beloved family member joined his ancestral home on Friday 19th April 2019 in Israel. 

Speaking on behalf of the family,  the brother to the deceased, Gregory Sanziri, said the presence of the Present has relieved their pain a bit, adding that they family had not felt same since the demised of his brother. 

He said the family will meet again and fix an appropriate date that will meet the Presidents calendar for the final funeral right. 

The Chief of Defence Staff- Maj. Gen. Acquah also informed the President that the family had officially informed the Ghana Armed Forces of the demised of Late Maj. Gen. Vib Sanziri. 

He revealed that a liaison officer has been appointed to by the Ghana Armed Forces to plan the funeral right.
