The Chief of Akyem Etwereso in the Akyemansa District Eastern Region, Daasebre Ofosu Kwabi Ayebiahwe, has said next year they will not celebrate Odwira festival, rather they are going to celebrate “Akwantu Tenten festival” in Akyem Etwereso.
Daasebre Ofosu Kwabi Ayebiahwe speaking to Ghananews247.com in an interview, stated that next year they will not celebrate Odwira festival, rather, they will celebrate Akwantu Tenten festival which tells their story as a people of Etwereso.
Akyem Abuakwa people celebrate Odwira festival which is been celebrated every five years, therefore, next year they will be celebrating Akwantu Tenten festival which will be their own festival.
He noted that before their forefathers settled in their current location which is Etwereso, they came from far and fought their way to get the land before they settled on it.
He said natives who are from Etwereso and have travelled outside the town have requested for the Akwantu Tenten festival to be celebrated next year. He, therefore, urged the people to contribute their quota so that they can celebrate it in grand style.
