The maiden edition of the Ampem EduCamp 2025, an educational initiative spearheaded by Deputy Finance Minister and Member of Parliament for Asuogyaman, Thomas Ampem Nyarko, has successfully trained 400 Junior High School (JHS) 2 students to improve academic performance in the district.
Held at the Akosombo International School from August 10 to 24, the camp brought together top-performing students from 70 public and private schools for intensive training in English, Mathematics, and Science—subjects considered critical for success in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The camp featured interactive learning, mentorship, and career coaching designed to sharpen the skills of participants while building their confidence.
Outstanding student, Zoe Kudo Yayra, was crowned the overall best after excelling in examinations at the camp.
Mr. Nyarko, who distributed over 2,000 exercise books, mathematical sets, and textbooks, noted that the initiative was born out of concern for the poor academic outcomes in the district.
He stressed that while it may not solve all challenges, it provides a strong foundation for nurturing academic excellence and leadership.
The District Education Director, Augustina Adwoa Owusu, commended the MP’s efforts, describing them as timely interventions that would help reverse the district’s declining BECE performance.
