The Headmaster of Akyem Achiase Senior High School, Mr. Eric Amoah, in an interview with Ghananews247.com disclosed that, three years ago after joining the school he asked a team to do a research and know where the students fell short when it comes to academics and the outcome was that, most of the students did well in their elective subjects than the core subjects so that is why he thought it wise to organize such a program for the JHS students to help them build a good foundation in those subjects very well before they move to SHS. It will also motivate the students to pursue their education after their BECE at the Achiase SHS.

“We want to lay better foundation at the JHS level so that when they reach SHS level it will not be difficult for them” He stated.

He noted that everything is possible if they want to know they will know but sometimes some of the students think that some of the subjects are very difficult but when they learn with a formidable foundation they will know it is not difficult like how they see it.

He urged the children not to play but take their lessons very serious. He went further to advice parents to buy books for their wards so that they can learn and urged them to monitor their children in the house so that the children will not go wayward but learn when they are in the house.

He stressed that, mostly the children put fear in themselves when its comes to some of the subjects and he admonished them not to entertain fear but find time to learn very hard and everything will be well with them in the future.

The quiz master for the day, Mr. Richmond Okyere urged teachers to pay attention to social studies and current affairs because most of the students had difficulties in those areas.

He congratulated all the schools that took part in the quiz competition.
