In the heart of Swedru, Joyce Amoah once stood as a proud businesswoman, running a thriving shop that supported her family and inspired many around her.
But her story took a heartbreaking turn.
In an effort to expand their business, Joyce’s husband made a costly mistake, he sold a friend’s plot of land to support their venture. When the truth came to light, he was arrested and later released on bail.
The debt that followed began eating into their finances.
The business collapsed.
Her husband, unable to cope with the consequences, abandoned her and fled, leaving Joyce to face the storm alone.
Desperate to pick up the pieces and settle the accumulating debts, Joyce secured multiple loans from institutions like Fidelity Bank, Sinapi, and others.
Unfortunately, her efforts to revive the business failed, and her situation only worsened.
For six long years, Joyce struggled. Eventually, the weight of the pressure forced her to flee Swedru and go into hiding, as creditors haunted her every step.
Left in isolation, Joyce has faced unimaginable mental anguish, attempting suicide multiple times. With no support and her children scattered and living with strangers, her world is one of pain, regret, and fear.
But today, she clings to the hope that Ghanaians, people known for their kindness and compassion, will hear her cry and help her find her feet again.
Joyce is currently saddled with a crippling debt of GHC250,000.00. She is not asking for luxury, but simply a chance to breathe again, to reclaim her dignity, and to be reunited with her children.
We are calling on all well-meaning Ghanaians, philanthropists, and individuals of goodwill, Dr. Osei Kwame Despite, Ibrahim Mahama, religious leaders, benevolent organizations, and anyone touched by her story to come to Joyce Amoah’s aid.
No amount is too small. Let’s restore hope. Let’s give a mother a reason to live again.
