Some Churches in Agona Swedru and its environs have proposed intensive awareness creation as a national responsibility by all and sundry on the activities of terrorist groups whose activities have become a issue of great concern to people all over the world.
The groups who claim to be working in the interest of Islam have carried out heinous attacks by targeting public places, especially Churches through bombings, killing innocent people including children.
Countries sub-Saharan Africa such as Nigeria, Cameroun, Mali and recently Burkina Faso have not been spared of their attack.
Since their insurgency in Burkina Faso, Ghana has been warned by international security intelligence to be on the look, as the country could be a potential target by the group.
As a result of this caution, most Ghanaians have expressed fear, calling on the country’s security services, particularly the military to beef up its operations at the borders, the country is already grappling with unresolved issues of kidnapping in recent times.
But the minister in charge of the Apostles’ Continuation Church in Agona Swedru Pastor Emmanuel Asante, the founder of the Living Faith Church Min. at Gomoa Benso Rev. Annim Addae, the minister in charge of the Holy City Prayer Centre at Gomoa Brofoyedur Priest Richard Kojo Entsie and the Associate minister in charge of the Agona Swedru branch of the Christ Mission Church Int. Apostle James Akyerekwah Jnr. have said that though it is good to tighten the country’s security at its borders, they hinted that the best solution is to creat awareness among the populace about the insurgence of these terrorism group and what to look out for whenever they encounter strangers with suspicious conducts.
The churches have therefore resolved to hold special prayers against any “possible invasion” by any insurgency group into the country, as according to them, prayers can repel any such intended acts.
They have therefore suggested the holding of a national prayer to this effect.
