The Proprietor of the King of Glory Preparatory School in Agona Swedru, Mrs. Philomena Aidoo has appealed to benevolent individuals and Non-Governmental Organizations [NGO’s] to lend a helping hand and support the education of children from poor homes, especially those in rural and derived communities whose parents cannot afford their education, so that they do not become wayward children in the future.
She has also appealed to the government, to also at least support such children with teaching and learning materials [TLM’s] to aid them in their education.
As an educationist, Mrs. Philomena Aidoo pointed out that her desire of establishing the school was not to make money, but to provide at least some basic education to children in the area.
According to her, she sometimes had to fend for some of the children from her own coffers because their parents cannot afford to provide them with a meal to school, a situation she disclosed sometimes drain her meager resources.
She mentioned means of transportation as one of the major challenge facing the school, as she always had to use her family car to transport the children to and from school at her own expense.
Established three years ago with only one child, the school now has a population of over forty children, with some coming from far and near.
