Despite the allaying of fear by the Minister for Information Kojo Oppong Nkrumah that the Government under Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo has no intention of introducing the teaching of what it called Comprehensive Sexuality Education [CSE] into the country’s school curriculum for basic schools, some religious leaders in Agona Swedru in the Central Region have resolved to resist any such move by any means possible, should it take place.
The founder of the Living Faith Ministries at Gomoa Benso Rev. Anim Addae, the Gomoa Akropong branch Minister of the Bethlehem Church Int. Pastor Ansah Asare, the Agona Swedru branch minister of the Samaria Miracle Church Int.Pastor Johnson Dzeameshi and Rev. Kofi Esuon Ngurumesi also in Agona Swedru have all warned the Government against any such move, contending that if such policy is introduced into the school curriculum, It will promote incidents of sexual activities among the school children, thereby increasing the high rate of teenage pregnancy which is already bedeviling the country
Since the issue came to the fore, a cross section of Ghanaians, including Religious and Civil Society Organizations, Traditional rulers, Parents, Lawyers as well as some concerned individuals and groups have condemned the Government, warning It against any attempt to introduce school children who are the countries future leaders to the practice of homosexuality.
This situation compelled the Minister for Education, Kojo Oppon g Nkrumah to come out and debunked the assertion, claiming that the Government has no intention of introducing any such policy into the country’s school curriculum.
But still some Ghanaians, including Rev Anim Addae, Pastor Ansah Asare and Rev. Kofi Esuon Ngurumesi are of the view that the Government wants to introduce the policy into the school curriculum through the back door.
