It is with deep shock and sorrow that I received the devastating news of the tragic helicopter crash today that claimed the lives of our compatriots on their way to Obuasi on national duty.
We mourn the untimely passing of:
• Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence, Director of Elections in the 2024 General Elections, and a dedicated member of the Functional Executive Committee of the NDC. I had the privilege of working closely
He was a hardworking and meticulous gentleman whose commitment to duty and the ideals of our party remain unmatched.
• Alhaji Dr. Muntala Mohammed, Minister for Science and Environment, and Member of Parliament for Tamale Central. A devoted public servant and a man I personally admired for his dedication, humility, and unwavering service to his people.
• Dr. Samuel Sarpong, a dedicated Vice Chairman of the NDC with whom I shared a very close bond. Just yesterday I had an interaction with him.
I also extend our condolences to the gallant officers from the National Security and the Air Force who tragically lost their lives while responding to the call of duty.
This is a painful moment for all of us. Our hearts are heavy, and our spirits grieve. We stand in solidarity with the families, friends, and loved ones of the departed. May their souls rest in perfect peace, and may their dedication to duty never be forgotten.
