DP World To Partner IBISTEK Crowley Ghana To Develop Takoradi Container Multi-Purpose Terminal

Officials of DP World are exploring the possibility of partnering Ibistek Crowley Ghana to develop the Takoradi Container Multipurpose Terminal. The container terminal when completed will have a quay wall of 790m with depth of -16cd with the multipurpose terminal having a quay wall of 900m with depth of -14cd.

The terminal will also have a total area of 153 hectares and it will be linked to the off-dock container terminal (Tacotel) by both road and rail to facilitate the movement of containers.

Officials of IBISTEK and DP World have therefore visited the Port of Takoradi to abreast themselves with operations there.

Peter Amo-Bediako, Marketing and Corporate Affairs Manager of Takoradi Port, who briefed the delegation explained that although there has been increased productivity at the Takoradi Port, the ongoing plans to expand the port would achieve the aim of being the main oil and gas hub in the sub region as well as an effective container port.

Kwame Gyan, the CEO of IBISTEK, acknowledged the significant role of DP World in the successful implementation of the impending multipurpose container terminal.

Captain Owusu Koranteng, a consultant in the port and maritime industry said the multi-purpose terminal initiative which includes a railway connecting the port to the northern regions would bring a lot of relief to Ghana’s Ports.

DP World expressed enthusiasm to support the construction of the multi-purpose container terminal.
