Dr Agyemang Tips Bawumia for Broad Regional Wins Ahead of NPP Primaries

Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South, Dr. Kingsley Agyemang, has projected a strong nationwide performance for former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the upcoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primaries, predicting victories in at least 12 regions.

Speaking on Dwaso Nsem on Adom FM, Dr. Agyemang acknowledged that the contest, particularly in the Eastern Region, will be keenly fought due to the presence of a prominent aspirant from within the region. However, he maintained that internal party dynamics and delegate sentiments favour Dr. Bawumia.

“The contest is not going to be easy anywhere,” he noted, adding that despite the competitive nature of the race, indications on the ground suggest a clear advantage for the former Vice President.

While declining to give specific percentage figures, Dr. Agyemang said the party’s internal expectations point to a decisive outcome in favour of Dr. Bawumia, especially across key regions.

According to him, regions such as Ashanti, Eastern, Bono East, and Ahafo are expected to fall comfortably in Dr. Bawumia’s column, while areas like Greater Accra, Central, and Volta may record closer margins.

“I am very confident he will win at least 12 regions,” Dr. Agyemang said, stressing that the mood among delegates and grassroots supporters reflects strong backing for Dr. Bawumia’s candidacy.

He attributed this confidence to what he described as Dr. Bawumia’s broad national appeal and acceptance across different regions and demographics within the party.

The NPP presidential primary is scheduled for Saturday, January 31, 2026, and is expected to be fiercely contested. Other aspirants in the race include former General Secretary of the party, Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong; Abetifi MP, Dr. Bryan Acheampong; Bosomtwe MP, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum; and Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong.
