Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum Mourns the Passing of Akwatia MP Ernest Yaw Kumi

Former Minister for Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has expressed deep sorrow over the sudden demise of Hon. Ernest Yaw Kumi, the Member of Parliament for Akwatia, describing it as a heartbreaking loss to Ghana and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

In a solemn tribute issued shortly after the news broke, Dr. Adutwum eulogized the late lawmaker as a patriotic servant, a visionary leader, and a dear friend whose legacy of humility, courage, and commitment to national development will never be forgotten.

“With deep sorrow, I mourn the passing of Hon. Ernest Kumi, MP for Akwatia, a dedicated patriot, visionary leader, and dear friend,” he stated. “His passion, humility, and bold leadership touched many. Ghana has lost a rising star.”

Dr. Adutwum, who served as Minister for Education during President Akufo-Addo’s administration, noted that Hon. Kumi was among a new generation of political leaders who represented hope for the future. He emphasized that the young MP’s dynamic contributions to national discourse and constituency development had already begun to make a meaningful impact.

“His energy and resolve to serve the people of Akwatia with integrity and compassion was truly inspiring,” Dr. Adutwum said. “He had a unique gift of connecting with people from all walks of life. His leadership style, rooted in humility and service, will be deeply missed.”

He extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, the chiefs and people of Akwatia, and the entire New Patriotic Party fraternity, praying for strength and comfort during this difficult period.

“My deepest condolences to his family, the people of Akwatia, and our Party. May his soul rest peacefully in the bosom of our Lord,” he concluded.

Hon. Ernest Yaw Kumi was widely regarded as one of the NPP’s most promising young parliamentarians. His commitment to education, healthcare, youth empowerment, and rural development earned him admiration not only within his constituency but also among colleagues in Parliament.

Prior to entering politics, he was known for his strong advocacy in community service and his role in shaping youth leadership initiatives in the Eastern Region. His death comes as a shock to many who viewed him as a rising force in Ghana’s political future.
