Eastern Vultures Demand Annulment of NDC Ayawaso East Primaries Over Vote-Buying Allegations

The Eastern Vultures, a political advocacy group based in Koforidua, have called for the immediate annulment of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primaries held in the Ayawaso East Constituency, citing what they describe as widespread and well-documented acts of vote-buying.

In a strongly worded statement issued on 9 February 2026, the group expressed deep concern over the conduct of the primaries held on 7 February 2026, which reportedly produced Baba Jamal Mohammed Ahmed as the winner. The primaries were organised ahead of the March 3, 2026 parliamentary by-election.

According to the Eastern Vultures, the entire process was “gravely tainted” by disturbing allegations of inducement of delegates, supported by what they describe as “clear and damning evidence” widely circulated on both traditional and social media platforms. They noted that the seriousness of the allegations has already compelled the national leadership of the National Democratic Congress to initiate internal investigations.

“Having critically assessed the available evidence from the traditional media networks and the social media, we unequivocally condemn this brazen assault on internal party democracy,” the group stated.

The Eastern Vultures are therefore demanding that the leadership of the NDC immediately annul the results of the Ayawaso East parliamentary primaries, arguing that allowing the outcome to stand would amount to legitimising corruption within party structures.

They further called for the swift prosecution of all aspirants and individuals found culpable at the conclusion of investigations, stressing that accountability is necessary to deter others who “habitually seek to buy their way to political power despite a clear lack of competence or credibility.”

Warning of broader consequences, the group cautioned that failure by the NDC to act decisively could harm Ghana’s democratic credentials on the global stage.

“If the NDC chooses to accept these fraudulent results and fails to act decisively, it will send a dangerous signal to the international community that corruption has become institutionalised in Ghana’s politics,” the statement warned.

The Eastern Vultures added that any failure to prosecute those involved would “undoubtedly damage Ghana’s democratic reputation and negatively affect our diplomatic standing in the global community of nations.”

PRESS RELEASE

EASTERN VULTURES – KOFORIDUA
09/02/2026

Eastern Vultures Demand Immediate Annulment of National Democratic Congress Parliamentary Primaries in Ayawaso East and Prosecution of All Culpable Aspirants for Vote Buying

The Eastern Vultures have taken keen interest in the conduct and subsequent outcome of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Primaries held on 7th February 2026 in the Ayawaso East Constituency, which reportedly produced Mr. Baba Jamal Mohammed Ahmed, former Member of Parliament for Akwatia, as the winner.

Whilst the NDC prepares to present its candidate for the March 3, 2026 parliamentary by-election, the process that led to this outcome has been gravely tainted by widespread and disturbing allegations of vote-buying, supported by clear and damning evidence circulating extensively on social media. This development has compelled the NDC’s national leadership to initiate investigations into the matter.

Having critically assessed the available evidence from the traditional media networks and the social media, the Eastern Vultures unequivocally condemn this brazen assault on internal party democracy.

The Eastern Vultures therefore call on the leadership of the NDC to immediately annul the results of the Ayawaso East Parliamentary Primaries.

What transpired is a shameful chapter in Ghana’s democratic journey and must not be whitewashed under any circumstances.

Further, we demand the swift prosecution of all aspirants and individuals found culpable at the conclusion of the party’s investigations. This is necessary to serve as a strong deterrent to others who habitually seek to buy their way to political power despite a clear lack of competence or credibility.

Let it be stated that if the NDC chooses to accept these fraudulent results and fails to act decisively, it will send a dangerous signal to the international community that corruption has become institutionalised in Ghana’s politics.

The Eastern Vultures are of the strong opinion that failure to prosecute the culprits involved in these shameful and corrupt acts will undoubtedly damage Ghana’s democratic reputation and negatively affect our diplomatic standing in the global community of nations.

Signed
