Acting Ashanti Regional Director of Education says her outfit has not recorded any incident in the ongoing West African Secondary Schools Certificate Examination since it began on April 3rd.
Mrs. Monica Ankrah said the examinations have so far been smooth with no record of leakage or delay in examination materials.
“There has not been any complaint from them, everything is on course, there has been some drastic improvement.”
Mrs. Monica Ankara, who is also the Kumasi Metro Director of Education was speaking with Citi News today [Thursday] during a tour of some schools in the Ashanti Region where candidates sat for the Mathematics paper.
Deputy Regional Minister, Elizabeth Agyemang, who was with her on the tour was impressed with the turnout of candidates.
She said “last year, (2017), when we went to one school, and we counted about 9 students who were pregnant, but today, not even 1 student is pregnant, and this is a very good sign for us as parents, so I’m very happy for them, I wish them the best of luck, and I hope they continue like this till they are done with the last paper.”
A total of 74,626 candidates sat for the WASSCE this year, with 37,211 females and 37,415 males.
The Deputy Regional Minister and the Acting Regional Director of Education visited the Tweneboah Kodua SHS, Juaben Senior High School, Effiduase Secondary and Commercial School, Effiduase Secondary and Technical School, Dadease Agric Secondary School and others.
