
The Minister in charge of the Agona Swedru branch of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Rev. Martin Luther Agbovi has debunked the assertion that Christianity was first introduced into Africa by the first Europeans who sailed to the continent to trade.
Rev. Agbovi who challenged the assertion noted that Europeans only introduced a means of worshiping God through the Bible, as he was of the view that Africans, and that matter blacks have their own way of worshiping God through traditional religion, which he said existed long before the arrival of the first Europeans with the Bible.
Commenting on the relation between culture and religion in an interview weith Ghananews.com, Rev. Agbovi explained that religion existed long before culture, which he described as a way of life by any group of people.
He therefore stated that it is not wrong for a member of the Clergy to participate in activities like celebration of festivals that is intended to promote the cultural practices and norms, which he hinted identify them as a people.
