Former Students Leader To Contest Agona West NPP Seat

A former President of the National Union of Ghana Students [NUGS] and law students, Mr. Michael Kwabena Ampong has declared his intention to contest for the Parliamentary seat of the Agona West Constituency on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party.

His declaration, according to checks by Ghananews247.com has send shivers in the camp of the incumbent MP, Cynthia Mamle Morrison who doubles as the Minister for Children, Gender and Social Protection.

The checks further revealed that the aspiring MP, Michael Kwabena Ampong has already kick-started his campaign, meeting traditional rulers and party supporters at the grass roots, starting from his native town Agona Nyakrom and its surrounding communities.

A product of the University of Cape Coast, Mr. Michael Ampong is known to have served under former president John Agyekum Kuffuor and also under current president Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo as his personal research officer during his bid as the presidential candidate of the NPP.

He is also said to have served as the Dep. National Communication Officer for the party under Nana Akomea.

With his vast experience in politics, Michael Ampong is believed to be the best candidate to serve the interest of the party in the constituency.

Speaking in an interview with him, Mr. Kwabena Ampong expressed optimism that he would win the primaries to contest the seat, come Dec. 2020, as he claims to have assessed the grounds before declaring his bid, culminating to his optimism.

He hinted that his vision is to make Agona West what it deserves, considering the numerous developmental challenges confronting the area.
