GHANA ARMWRESTLING, A YEAR OLD, HURRAY!

 

Exactly a year ago, a traditional and easy to play sport of Armwrestling was introduced to Ghanaians and was inaugurated by the National Sports Authority as the 40th recognized sporting federation.

The Ghana Armwrestling Federation was mandated to  develop, promote and manage the growth of the sport.

In a just one year,Ghana Armwrestling is amongst the top active federations and is the most talk about sport today in Ghana apart from football.

Within the year under review, they have achieved the following:
1. Got Affiliated to World Armwrestling Federation.
2. Got Affiliated to Africa Armwrestling Federation.
3. Organized 3 Major Events in Accra and Kumasi.
4. Introduced the Ongoing Campus Rumble.
5. The Armwrestling Train partner institutions, festivals and group games  to introduce and play the sport.
6. Trained 21 Coaches, Now doing basic in Kumasi.
7. Trained 16 Referees(5 Senior, 11Junior) with Ghana having all 3 Senior Referees in Africa and 1 World Junior Referee.
8. Attained an Executive Position in Africa by it’s leader Charles Osei Asibey Br.
9. Attended World Congress in Hungary.
10. Place 2nd at our 1st African Championship with a record medal haul of 22.
11. Hosting of 2018 Africa Armwrestling Championship etc.
12. Development Partnership  with the Security Services.
13. Active website and social  media platforms.

Mr Charles Osei Sibbey the President of the Ghana Armwrestling said they will continue with the aggressive development expansion program working with the GES, Gyms, Tertiary Institutions, Security Services, Corporate Institutions, NSA etc to make sure we have covered Ghana.

according to him the target of the federation next year, is for their application for recognition by the Ghana Olympic Committee which is however pending will be accepted and we unto the GOC body soonest.
The inauguration of the regional associations will also commence to enhance development in the various regions and communities.

On this occasion, we appreciate the great support from the media and friends, Kofikrom Pharmacy, T.T Brothers, Twellium Industries, Agya Appiah, Awards Center, now Vodafone Cash, Yomi Yogurt and the many, who have in diverse ways supported the steady but fast growth of the sport.
