The Elders of Teacher Kotei/Ferguson Family has officially petitioned the Director of CID of the Property Fraud Unit(PFU) of the Ghana Police Service to initiate investigations into the unlawful seizure and wrongful occupation of their family landed property by some ‘landguards’ claiming ownership of the said parcel of land situated at Osu Kuku Hill adjacent to the SSNIT Specialist Hospital.
With reference to the valid documents which were attached to the petition to the PFU, the family indicated that a family member Robert E. Ferguson was the owner of land by all indications as documented, who later mortgaged it to his business partner called Violet Bampoe.
Per the family’s attached documents to the petition, they further narrated that later that the mortgage was paid back in full with the kind courtesy of the then Head of the Teacher Kotei family Mr. Theophilus Quarshie Kotey.
The family noted that it was for good reason Mr. Theophilus Quarshie Kotey, supported in paying off the mortgage that the property was declared to the Koteis’ as a family property in 1959 as is captured in the 1959 deed.
The petitioners said, “We the elders of the family have been in and out of the country due to education, business and other reasons but we are up to date on our properties and have not lost interest in any of our bonafide inheritance including this land.”
“Upon a tip-off that someone was fencing the land, some of the family members including Nii Ashaley went and questioned the workers on site and they were told it was for a certain Doctor who employed their services. For this reason the family members reached out for Doctor Kisseih a family member, who told them he has not engaged anyone to build a wall. We went again and this time we were threatened with Landguards but then they were done with the wall. This was when they mentioned one Dr Barnor as the one who gave them the job to do. We then took the matter to the traditional elders of OSU mainly the Nii Osiahene for OSU. The traditional elders invited both sides three times on different occasions. We the family have been present in all, but the Dr. Barnor and his people never came. We were therefore advised by the traditional elders to seek police assistance for investigations and to kick out the unlawful squatters/ Landguards off our land. So that we take over our family property for urgent development,” they narrated.
The family also emphasized that they are by this publication serving notice to the general public to desist from any kind of transactions involving that parcel of land as they may end up in a messy situation in the end. We have not contracted any Doctor, or anyone to do any form of business on our behalf.
