Footvolley is a blend of volleyball and association football which was founded in 1960s in Brazil. Initially the game was played to enhance the skill level of the players so that they would be able to control air balls and striking precision. Today rules have been established to guide the game. The game is now seen has one of the most popular sport in Brazil and it has quickly spread to other continents. Footvolley is not limited to sand only; the game can also be played on hard floor and normal grass pitch

Ghana Foot volley Association was established in 15th August, 2015 with the main objective of ensuring the growth and development of foot volley in Ghana and beyond. Our mission is to support the development and growth of the practice of foot volley as we intend to establish foot volley in schools as a recreational activity and in clubs as part of football training session, providing the necessary coaching resources through the accepted rules to develop performance of Ghanaian athlete.

According to Mustapha Mohammed, president of the new sports federation, GFVA is committed to working in partnership with local and international businesses, organizations, the Ghanaian Government and the community to ensure that all clubs become members of the Ghana Footvolley Association and sign to Clean Beach Ghana Foundation for the growth of Footvolley in a healthy, fun environment. In regards to that, Ghana Footvolley Association is collaborating with Jubilee Radio to present the first ever footvolley exhibition and Jubilee Radio Beach Marathon at Keta in the Volta region of Ghana on the 2nd July, 2018 and the venue is Keta Aborigines Beach.

The development of sand/beach sports in Ghana will go a long way to improve and make our beaches litter free for tourism promotion and employment.

Mustapha, the president of Ghana Footvolley Association (GFVA) who doubles as the Chief Executive Officer of Clean Beach Ghana Foundation is looking forward to partner and collaborate with other beach or sand sports in the country to save our beaches from trash.
