Leading cosmetics company, Ghadour have agreed to sponsor this year’s Women In Sports (WISA) Achievers Awards which comes off in Accra on September 29, 2018.
Madam Gloria Commodore aka Mama G, a staunch member of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) who is executive director of WISA, an NGO registered to see to the promotion and development of sports among females said she is very happy that the Almighty has listened to her prayers and this season, a big company like Ghandour Cosmetics is sponsoring the event that recognizes and rewards female old and rising stars who have been forgotten.
She said it has not been easy funding the WISA Achievers Awards alone and contributions from female sports journalists.
According to Mama G, the 2018 edition of the awards hopes to be grand and she called on other companies to emulate the example of Ghandour Cosmetics.
Claire, an official of Ghandour Cosmetics assured WISA members that there is no need to worry this year and the years to come as they fully support the initiative of WISA who are not a supporting group looking for opportunity to travel, but aims at encouraging young athletes and assisting old stars.
Meanwhile, WISA have lined up some sporting activities to usher this year’s awards and very soon they would come out with the full details of the Ghandour package.
Mavis Amanor of Asempa FM and Fire Ladies fame who was honoured by WISA last year commended Ghandour for their gesture and said this year’s event would be very spectacular.
Naa Darkua Dodoo of Rainbow Radio and PRO of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) also thanked Ghandour. The WISA member urged female sports personalities to have hope with the emergence of WISA as they are out to encourage girls and women who take part in sports.
Kwese TV supported WISA last year and they are coming on board again.
