Gibrine Group, Afro-Arab President Unite for Zongo Upliftment

In a heartfelt meeting that underscored shared values and a common vision, two respected business leaders, Alhaji Gibrine Issah Tutu of the Gibrine Group and Ambassador Alhaji Salamu Amadu of the Afro-Arab Group came together on Friday, August 2, 2025, for a meaningful dialogue on how to positively transform Ghana’s Zongo communities.

Held at the Afro-Arab Group headquarters in Accra, the encounter began as a courtesy visit but quickly evolved into an inspiring conversation focused on community upliftment. Alhaji Gibrine, accompanied by members of his team, expressed his deep appreciation to Ambassador Salamu Amadu for earlier recognizing the Gibrine Group’s contributions to development. From there, the exchange shifted to strategic discussions around youth empowerment, green energy innovation, and health sector advancement.

During the meeting, Alhaji Gibrine shared insights into his company’s expanding operations across transportation, agriculture, construction, and health. He spoke with passion about their embrace of modern farming technologies, including drones and mechanized tools, to boost productivity. But perhaps most striking was his announcement of an ambitious plan to establish an Islamic Institute of Health and Allied Sciences, a facility he believes could reshape the future of healthcare education in the Zongo communities.

“We cannot afford to leave our youth behind,” he emphasized. “Through this institute, we hope to train health professionals who not only serve their communities but are also grounded in our cultural and religious values. It’s a way to tackle brain drain and create real opportunities.”

Ambassador Salamu Amadu, a longtime champion of youth empowerment, warmly welcomed the initiative and lauded Alhaji Gibrine’s forward-thinking. He highlighted how such projects speak to the heart of Afro-Arab Group’s own vision.

“I’m truly impressed by your commitment,” he said. “An ultramodern health facility like this will have a transformative impact. This is the kind of leadership our communities need.”

The two leaders found further common ground in their mutual interest in sustainability. Ambassador Salamu encouraged Gibrine Group to consider integrating renewable energy into their ventures, noting that Afro-Arab Group is actively transitioning toward green energy in its operations.

“We’re also going green at Afro-Arab,” he added. “I believe there’s room for collaboration in green energy transmission and conservation.”

Another shared priority was the need to mentor and support exceptional young talents from the Zongo areas. Both CEOs agreed that harnessing the energy, skills, and ideas of successful Zongo youth could pave the way for accelerated development and stronger community leadership.

Ambassador Salamu also spoke candidly about the need to strike a gender balance in empowerment efforts.

“We’ve done so much for our girls, and rightfully so,” he said. “But let’s not forget our boys. Empowerment must be inclusive when we lift both, we lift the whole community.”

Joining Ambassador Salamu at the meeting was Dickson Boadi, head of Media and Publicity at the Afro-Arab Group, who echoed the spirit of collaboration that defined the engagement.

The meeting concluded on a high note, with both parties pledging to stay in close contact and explore joint initiatives. Some of the key follow-up actions include potential partnerships in real estate, collaboration in green energy projects, and organizing a mentorship and empowerment forum for Zongo youth.

As the two visionary leaders departed with mutual respect and shared purpose, it became clear that this encounter marked more than just a meeting—it laid the foundation for a future where private sector collaboration drives sustainable, people-centered development in some of Ghana’s most underserved communities.
