The people of Gomoa Akropong in the Central Region are to construct a Gh 5 billion Cedis all inclusive community center with library and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) facility.
The projected, expected to be completed in five years, is to help promote quality education among students in the town.
This was disclosed by the Chairperson of the Planning Committee of this year’s Annual Akwambo Festival of the Chiefs and people of the town, Ms. Hellen Quansah during the celebration on the theme ”Development through Culture and Festival.”
According to her, the town was able to generate funds to construct a 24-sitter public toilet facility with proceeds from the previous festival.
She has therefore appealed to citizens of the town, particularly those living abroad to contribute, whether in cash or kind to ensure the successful completion of the project.
This year’s festival was marked by series of events such as clean-up exercise, bonfire, health screening, candle light procession, indoor and outdoor games among others.
The occasion was also used to outdoor the Royal Asona Family of the town.
History has it that the people of Gomoa Akropong migrated from Dadawdo, a farming community near Gomoa Manso almost seventy years ago, following mass migration of surrounding villages as a result of persistent attacks by some assailants.
