Reckless driving and indiscipline on the road by some commercial drivers is said to be the major cause of road accidents in the country, contributing to over sixty percent of all road crashes.
This is said to be as a result of drunk driving, wrong overtaken and overspeeding. The Swedru Area Head of the Musama Disco Christo Church, Rev. Ken Arthur who disclosed this in an interview with ghananews247.com in a Christmas message debunked the assertion held by some that most of these accidents are spiritual, contending that more often than not, commercial drivers want to take undue advantage of celebrations like Christmas and Easter to cash in, and in their rush often get involved in accidents, forgetting that the vehicle is a machine and can develop mechanical fault at any time.
He has therefore appealed to all commercial drivers to exercise restraints especially during and after the Christmas celebration to make the period a memorable one.
In the past two months, more than three hundred people have lost their lives through road accidents, with some burnt to ashes beyond recognition.
