For more than two decades, James Owusu has remained a committed servant of the New Patriotic Party, dedicating his time, resources, and leadership to strengthening the Party both in Ghana and within the diaspora.
His journey within the Party reflects a consistent record of service, growth, and results. From his early days as a TESCON Public Relations Officer, to serving as Branch Youth Organizer, two-term Chapter Chairman of the Cincinnati Chapter, and now First Vice Chairman of NPP-USA, his leadership has been marked by discipline, unity-building, and strategic expansion.
James Owusu firmly believes that leadership is not about titles but about responsibility and service. His work over the years demonstrates that he understands how to organize people, build institutions, resolve internal challenges, and mobilize resources to support the Party’s national agenda.
His leadership philosophy is simple but powerful:

Through practical leadership and tireless commitment, he has contributed significantly to the growth, cohesion, and strategic expansion of NPP-USA.
Today, James Owusu stands ready to continue that journey by offering himself to serve as Chairman of the NPP-USA Branch, working with all members to strengthen unity, deepen organizational capacity, and position the Branch to play a decisive role in securing victory for the Party in 2028 and beyond.
PROVEN LEADERSHIP – TANGIBLE RESULTS
Summary of Key Achievements
Youth Leadership and Development
James Owusu has played a critical role in building and mentoring the next generation of Party leaders.
In 2012, he initiated the first-ever NPP-USA International Youth Conference which took place in New York in 2015, creating a platform for young leaders across the Party to network, exchange ideas, and build leadership capacity.
He also coordinated travel arrangements and visa processing for all ten NPP Regional Youth Organizers from Ghana to attend the conference. Many of those young leaders have since gone on to become influential Party figures across Ghana.
He further strengthened youth development by establishing the Branch Youth Organizers Forum, which mentors emerging youth leaders and prepares them for leadership roles within the Party.
In addition, he mobilized financial and logistical support for TESCON operations during the 2012 general elections, supporting student activism and Party engagement at KNUST and the University of Ghana.
Party Development and Strategic Expansion
James Owusu has been instrumental in expanding the footprint and influence of NPP-USA. These initiatives significantly expanded the organizational reach of the NPP-USA Branch.
In 2012, he led the establishment and inauguration of the Columbus-Ohio Chapter, which has since become one of the strongest chapters within the Branch.
His dedication to that chapter’s growth was recognized when he received the Founding Member’s Award during the Chapter’s 10th Anniversary Celebration in 2023.
He also played an important role in nurturing the Michigan Chapter, contributing to the strengthening of the Branch’s national presence.
In 2024, he coordinated the inauguration of three new chapters:
• Michigan
• Washington State
• Tampa Bay, Florida
Strategic Revitalization and Unity Building
Strong organizations require unity and stability. James Owusu has consistently demonstrated the ability to restore and strengthen internal structures.
He has led restructuring efforts that revived underperforming and near-collapsed chapters, transforming them into active and vibrant Party units.
He has also championed internal conflict resolution initiatives, helping to maintain unity and collaboration among members across the Branch.
His leadership demonstrates a clear understanding that:
Unity is not accidental — it is intentional leadership in action.
Electoral Strategy and Resource Mobilization
James Owusu understands that political success requires planning, strategy, and resources.
Under his leadership, the Cincinnati Chapter adopted the Sefwi Akontombra Constituency in the Western North Region, providing campaign support and resources.
This strategic partnership contributed to the Party winning the constituency’s parliamentary seat for the first time since 1992 during the 2016 elections and successfully retaining it in 2020.
He also played a key role in coordinating NPP-USA fundraising efforts for the 2024 General Election, mobilizing significant campaign resources for Party activities.
Beyond fundraising, he personally contributed campaign logistics to constituencies across Ashanti, Ahafo, Brong East, Western North, and Eastern Regions during the 2020 and 2024 elections.
THE MISSION AHEAD: 2028
As the incoming NPP-USA Branch Chairman, James Owusu has a clear priority:
Mobilizing the human, financial, and logistical resources of the diaspora to support the NPP Flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to secure victory in the 2028 General Elections.
The task ahead requires leadership that is experienced, unifying, and result-driven.
