Jospong Group Mourns Victims of August 6 Helicopter Crash

The Executive Chairman of the Jospong Group of Companies, Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong, has expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of eight Ghanaians who perished in the August 6 Ghana Air Force helicopter crash in the Adansi-Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region.

In a condolence message on behalf of the entire Jospong Group, Dr. Agyepong described the incident as “a heartbreaking loss — to their families, to the Government, and to the Nation they served with honour and distinction,” noting that Ghana had lost “true patriots.”

The victims of the crash were Defence Minister Hon. Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah; Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Hon. Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed; Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Hon. Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna; NDC Vice Chairman Hon. Samuel Sarpong; former parliamentary candidate Mr. Samuel Aboagye; and three Air Force crew members — Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manaen (Amaning) Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.

“On behalf of the entire Jospong Group, I extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved families. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. May their souls find perfect peace,” Dr. Agyepong said.

The victims were en route to Obuasi to launch the Responsible Co-operative Mining and Skills Development Programme (COMSDEP) when their Z-9 helicopter went off radar shortly after taking off from Accra. All eight on board were later confirmed dead.

The government has since declared a three-day national mourning period and scheduled a state funeral for Friday, August 15, 2025, at the Black Star Square.
