The Ankrah Boye Doku family in Accra has issued a statement warning unauthorised persons including land guards to stay off a parcel of land located at Agyiringano, a suburb of East Legon in the Greater Accra Region.
Addressing the media, Henry Addo, a spokesperson of the Ankrah-Boye Doku family, stated that, the family recently received pieces of information from trusted sources about how a group of men, numbering about sixty (60), suspected to be land guards, besieged the said parcel of land at Agyiringano and pulled down a wall unit at the site, subjected the workers on site to severe beatings whiles injuring some of them in the process.
A motor bike belonging to one of the workers was also burnt beyond recognition by these suspected land guards.
According to the family’s spokesperson, an investigation was carried out to find out who these lawless persons were. And it emerged that one Dr. Mc Carthy, who claims to have an ownership title to this same parcel of land belonging to the Ankra Boye Doku family is one of the main persons behind the unwanted and unwarranted mayhem and damages being emitted by these unscrupulous individuals to innocent individuals who usually come to work on the land.
A further investigation carried out to verify the authenticity and genuineness of the said document in his (Dr McCarthy) possession however, proved that the land title document he holds is fake.
Answering a question with regards to the size of the land, Mr. Addo revealed that the total land size is about 7000 acres of which some have been completely taken over whiles some have been encroached upon.
According to Mr. Addo, the case has been ongoing for close to Twenty-Five (25) years now since the Ankrah family petitioned the law Court to intervene in the case of which an Interlocutory Injunction was issued recently, banning any individual, group or institution apart from the Ankrah Boye Doku family from going to the land site.
The Court has since then placed an Injunction signed by the Deputy Chief Registrar, Isaac Yeboah-Duako on October 12, 2020, against the following individuals, Dr. McCarthy, District Commander of Police (DCOP) Samuel Oku Dwamena of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), District Superintendent of Police DSP Atuluk and Corporal Bright Dapaah, a nephew of Minister of National Security Hon. Albert Kan Dapaah.
Mr. Addo reiterated the fact that prior to these recent attacks at the site, there has been persistent attacks on human lives and properties, especially any time the rightful owners on the land visits the site to ascertain current progress of work done, they are either attack or driven away by these individuals suspected to be land guards and working under the instructions of Dr. McCarthy and some other individuals.
He also indicated that petitions have been sent to PIPS for investigations into the development.
The family spokesperson used the opportunity to crave the indulgence of all individuals as well as institutions involved in the case to work assiduously in order to forestall further escalation of the issues concerning the rightful owners of the parcel of land being in contention.
He also appealed to the President of the Republic to call all his security officer especially the police administration and its hierarchy to order since some of these officers under the influence of money usually deny the poor justice, who are mostly legitimate owners to lands under litigation due to their inability to meet legal fees to seek redress at the Courts of competent jurisdiction.
