Kumasi came alive as the second edition of MTN Music Festival was held at the Plush Golden Bean Hotel in Nhyiaeso on Monday, April 30, 2018.
The MTN Music Festival which is held as a prelude to key national holidays including the independence Day, May Day, and Farmers Day celebrations, is to celebrate and showcase the cultural heritage of Ghana through music, dance and poetry.
The first edition, dubbed the ‘Independence Edition’ which took place at the National Theatre in Accra, witnessed electrifying performances from music legend Kojo Antwi,versatile Amandzeba, and super-talented MzVee.
The second edition, which was also dubbed ‘The May Day edition’, witnessed gigantic performances from ‘Odo’ singer Kidi, Kuami Eugene of ‘Confusion’ fame and legendary contemporary highlife musician, Kwabena Kwabena.
Although Kuami Eugene, and Kidi’s put up spectacular performances, Kwabena Kwabena justified why he is regarded as the master of live band performance.
Immediately Kwabena Kwabena jumped on stage, he reignited the entire auditorium with back to back selctions of his hit songs.
The celebrated Kwabena Kwabena, who has never disappointed with his fashion sense, clad in a unique all-red African apparel, spent one hour on stage— during which he classically performed about 14 songs including ‘Tuamudaa’, ‘Adult Music’, ‘Begye Me’, ‘Meye’, ‘Me Ne Waa’ among others.
His combination with the band, technique on the microphone, and his interaction with the patrons was a master-class.
Most of the patrons Razzonline.com spoke with, adjudged Kwabena Kwabena the best performer on the night and advised Kuami Eugene, Kidi and young Ghanaian artistes to go for live band performance lessons from the ‘Asor’ hitmaker.
