As the year draws to a close and festive lights brighten homes across Ghana and beyond, Dr. Ernest Ofori Sarpong, Chief Executive Officer of Special Ice Mineral Water, is calling on citizens to embrace the Christmas season with gratitude, responsibility, and spiritual focus.
In an exclusive interview Nii Okpoti Odamtten / Muhammad Faisal Mustapha, the respected business leader reflects on leadership, public safety, faith, and the shared responsibility of ending the year on a hopeful and disciplined note as the nation looks ahead to a prosperous and purposeful 2026.
For Dr. Ofori Sarpong, Christmas is first and foremost a season of appreciation.
“I want to sincerely thank every member of the Special Ice Mineral Water family for their dedication, resilience, and loyalty throughout the year,” he said. “Our success is not built by machines alone, but by people who show up daily with commitment and integrity.”
He extended the same message of goodwill to customers, partners, and citizens nationwide, emphasizing that businesses thrive only when communities thrive.

While acknowledging the joy and togetherness that define the festive season, Dr. Ofori-Sarpong issued a sober reminder on road safety and personal responsibility, particularly regarding drinking and driving.
“This season should not be remembered for preventable tragedies,” he cautioned. “I urge everyone to watch what you eat, watch what you drink, and most importantly, never drink and drive. A moment of carelessness can cost a lifetime.”
He described road safety as a moral obligation, not merely a legal one, urging families and friends to hold one another accountable during celebrations.
Beyond celebration and caution, Dr. Ofori-Sarpong emphasized the spiritual meaning of Christmas, calling on Christians to refocus on the birth of Jesus Christ.
“In the midst of the music, the food, and the gatherings, let us not lose sight of the reason for the season,” he said. “Let Jesus Christ be our ultimate focus, His teachings of love, humility, and service should guide how we live, not only at Christmas, but every day.”
He noted that faith continues to shape his leadership philosophy, influencing how decisions are made within his organization and how corporate success is measured beyond profit.
“A moment of carelessness can cost a lifetime. Celebration must always go hand in hand with responsibility.”
As CEO of one of Ghana’s well known bottled water brands, Dr. Ofori-Sarpong believes corporate leaders must play an active role in promoting public wellbeing.
“Leadership goes beyond boardrooms and balance sheets,” he stated. “It is about setting an example in safety, in values, and in how we treat people.”
He reaffirmed Special Ice Mineral Water’s commitment to quality, health, and ethical business practices, describing safe drinking water as both a commercial product and a social necessity.
With optimism, Dr. Ofori-Sarpong expressed confidence in the coming year, calling on Ghanaians to enter 2026 with discipline, unity, and renewed purpose.
“I wish all our staff, partners, and citizens a Merry Christmas and a prosperous, peaceful, and productive 2026,” he said. “If we remain focused, faithful, and responsible, the future will be bright for us all.”
