The Member of Parliament for Achiase Constituency, Hon. Kofi Ahenkorah Marfo, together with the Deputy Minister of Health, Hon. Mohammed Asei Seini and the DCE of Akyem Achiase District in the Eastern Region has commissioned an ultramodern maternity block for Akyem Aperade health center.
The facility can boast of a delivery ward, waiting ward , nurses changing room, theatre and other offices.
The Member of Parliament for Achiase Constituency, Hon. Kofi Ahenkorah Marfo in his speech stated that during one of his usual routine tour in the constituency he visited the health center. He said, he fell very sad looking at the situation of the maternity block. He quickly had an interaction with the DCE to see how best they can put the maternity block to a befitting one.
Eventually, he started it as one of his major projects in the Achiase Constituency. With the help of the DCE and other stakeholders they have completed the projects.
He revealed that, this is one of the best maternity ward in the Akyemansa enclave, even Akyem Oda doesn’t have such kind of facility in the Akim Oda government hospital.
He pleaded with the Director of Health in the district to monitor the staff of the facility so that they take very good care of the place for the people of Akyem Aperade for it to serve it purpose.
He again requested for healthcare professionals to work in the facility so that health care will be smooth.
The DCE for Achiase District, Hon. Richmond Kofi Amponsah Agyabeng, on his side expressed his gratitude to the MP for fulfilling his promise to the people of Akyem Aperade.
The Deputy Minister of Health, Hon. Mohammed Asei Seini, said it is clear that the provision of a project like the health facility will provide congenial environment for all expectant mothers in the District.
He tasked the District Health Directorate, the District Assembly and the relevant stakeholders to ensure that the ultra-modern facility meets its intended purpose to ensure value for money.
He bemoaned the beneficiaries of the maternity block to ensure good maintenance culture.
He said he was very happy at the pace of development in the constituency and adviced other districts in the Region to learn from the Achiase District.
The Minister said he is very happy the district has been recording zero maternal death over the years and he believes the facility will augment the effort of the District Health Directorate in this feat already chalked in maternal health.
The District Health Director, Mrs. Angela Acheampomaa, receiving the keys of the facility thanked the MP for such a great project and acknowledged that the facility will help them a lot.
