Black Stars new boy on the block Emmanuel Boateng has disclosed starting his career as a center back despite his current fame as a goal monger.
The Levante UD attacker who wrote his name in the history books of Spanish football with a dream hat trick against FC Barcelona and has since soared higher on the game across the planet.
The former Tema Youth FC attacker credited the late Coach EK Afranie for turning him into a striker. The slippery attacker capped a memorable personal campaign with a goal on his debut for the Black Stars against Japan in a 2-0 win for Kwesi Appiah’s men in an international friendly.
Speaking on his journey to the top, Emmanuel Boateng revealed his journey in the game so far.
“… yes I started playing as a defender when I was young,” Boateng stressed.
“But I say very big thanks to late Coach Afrane for seeing my eye for goal and converting me into a striker. I’m enjoying it now”, he added.
The Ghanaian import is reportedly on top of the transfer wish list of a number of European clubs after his heroics against the Blaugrana in the 5-4 late last month.
Boateng is relishing a move to La Liga side Barcelona or Manchester United in England as his career blossoms..
The 22-year-old goal poacher has set aside a time frame for himself to get him ready for a top club in the world.
Emmanuel Boateng who bagged in seven goals for Levante this season believes he should be ripe to don the shirts of either Barcelona or Manchester United in the next five years.
“As an upcoming young player, I always dream big. I see myself playing in one of the biggest clubs in the world in the next five years
“Big clubs like Manchester United or Barcelona will always excite me.” Boateng said.
Ghana beat Japan 2-0 in an international friendly and Emmanuel Boateng got his debut start and goal in Black Stars colours.
